Is there anyone from Carlson reading this post. We purchased a copy of
SurvCE recently, to demo and see if it was a product that would replace our
current product. (25 seats). The remote elevation option assigns an
elevation on the point. After you turn to the point it gives you a height of
that object. Is there a way to capture that height instead of using the
elevation. I realize it has been only two days since I posted this question,
but all other posts have had a reply. Thanks.

These newsgroups are for peer to peer discussion and assistance. While
i have my guys cruise the newsgroups as they can, we can't guarantee a
quick response to your question. This forum is not meant to be a
support line where all support questions are submitted and responded to
by carlson personnel. If you have questions and no one has posted a
reply to your question on this or any newsgroup, pick up the phone and
give us a call.

From what I can tell, by testing in the manual mode, there is no way to
capture the height as the elevation of the point. What does happen
however is that when you store the point, the calc'd elevation is stored
for the point, and the REHeight is written to the rw5 file as a note.
If you are running SurvCADD or Carlson Survey in your office, you can
then process the rw5 file, with the Create Point Notes option toggled on
and the notes will be generated in the crd file for the points. Also,
while in the field, you could turn on prompt for point notes in job
settings. After displaying the height, this method would require some
memory, once you stored the point you would be prompted for a point
note. Here you could manually key in the height. What this would
accomplish is the creation of a file with the extension of .not. In our
office software, when this file is located in the same directory as the
crd file, when drawing or listing points and toggling on the show point
notes options, the notes will be drawn or listed along with the points.
Also if you have show point notes turned on in SurvCE in the list
points settings, the point notes will also be displayed.

It might not be a bad idea to have an option to write the REHeight to a
not file automatically. I will get this on the wish list and see where
it goes. Currently you can't do what you need as far as I know. The
suggestions above are just some ideas to maybe help you complete a job.
I hope this helps and has answered your question.

I understand the purpose of the newsgroup. I figured out the shortcuts you
mentioned. The heights are a useful tool for us for clearances and the such.
We want an elevation at the groung and the height. Other than that it seems
to work well. I will call next time.
