update on explorer II radio interference

Postby Terry Strickland » Thu Jun 16, 2005 1:14 am

It appears that I have the problem with the explorer interfering with my
Motorola SP21's resolved. Both of my sp21's would "fry" within 15-20'
of the data collector, regardless of the frequency setting. I also have
a sp10 that didn't get the static, so I've been using it when running
the gun.

Troy with Hayes Instrument Company suggested setting the squelch code on
the sp21's. I had the code off so I could talk to the sp10, which don't
support the codes. I set the code to 4, same as the frequency 4 I've
been using for communication, and haven't had any static or "frying".
Only drawback is I can't communicate with the sp10. The sp10 will
"hear" the tansfer since it is on the same frequency, but it won't
"talk" back.

I am glad to get it resolved because it was very annoying. Thanks to
everyone for input and suggestions.
