Instrument Communications

Postby Brian MacEwen » Mon Jul 25, 2005 9:34 pm

I am currently test driving CarlsonCE Version1.50.005 dated 07/15/04 on an
Allegro CE.

As I was using and SDR33 and a Nikon DTM-520, I was initially configuring
the CarlsonCE to communicate with the Nikon as as Sokkia Set Two-Way.

However, I have determined that upon starting any of the Survey functions
(SS/Trav, Stakeout, etc.) the data collector is disabling the tilt sensors
on my DTM-520, thus eliminating the dual axis compensation on the
instrument.

I have tested the units with them both set to the Nikon instrument settings,
and this does not seem to be a problem.

The vendor I received the deom from is checking into this issue, but I
thought that I would post here as well.

I would like to continue to use the equipment in the Sokkia Set Two-Way mode
as it is much easier in the stakeout mode (instrument countdown).

Any help would be appreciated.

Brian,

The first thing that i would do is have your vendor assist you with
getting the latest release of SurvCE on your data collector. No sense
test driving an old model. I don't remember an issue with the Sokkia
two way mode but i will check around to see if anyone else has received
any reports. Let me know if you still have the trouble after installing
the latest version of SurvCE. The version should be 1.50.008.10.
