Interfacing to an ODOM Hydrotrac Echo Sounder

I have a TDS Ranger with SurveCE V1.50.008.1 installed. I am interfacing
to a GPS through COM 1 of the Ranger and an ODOM Hydrotrac Echo Sounder
through Com 2. The Hydrotrac is set to output the ODOM "ET" depth string.

The position correctly displays in the Monitor/Skyplot page under Lat/Long
but the depth states "Invalid Read". Both GPS and Echo Sounder are set at
9600, 8, N, 1 protocols. The update rate for both the GPS and Echo Sounder
is set at 1Hz.

Switching the devices around so that COM2 of the Ranger is GPS and COM1 is
the Echo Sounder input shows a correct display of depth data in the
lat/Long page, but the system craches after a while (a few
minutes)requiring a hard reset to the Ranger to open up the ports again).

Kindly advise.

I had that same problem with the "current" version 1.50.008.4 runnig a
Topcon GTS 3D connected to my Ipaq.

The gun would work for about 15 to 20 minutes and then SurvCE would lock-up.
I uninstalled 1.50.008.4 and reinstalled 1.50.006 and all was well again.

I'm lucky I had the Carlson CD with 1.50.006
