Having just switched from SMI to Carlson Survce on the Explorer. The way I
understand it you must always carry elevations, on the SMI elevations
could be switched off when not needed, as when doing a topographic survey
and getting a shot on a wall with a peanut prism we would turn off
elevations so not to get a bogus elevation thet would through off the
contours when plotted.
Also with SMI it was the procedure to shoot the the prism with a zero for
the H-Rod ignoring the HI. In my opinion this is a much more accurate
method than to measure with a tape up to the center point of the
instrument on an angle from the ground point.
Any One else miss this feature.
