Time Stamps and Notes

Postby Mark Ware » Fri Feb 03, 2006 8:17 am

I think the time stamp routine is too general. It really takes up a great
deal of space in the raw data file. I think it should be more like TDS -
record a time stamp every 10 or 30 minutes (user definable).

Also, you should be able to attach a note to a topo or stakeout shot right
from the same screen instead of having to go all the way out to the main
menu, then re-backsight, etc. to continue shooting topo or whatever.

We have our default set to go to the note screen after every shot. If you
don't need a note, all you have to do is cancel the note. Sure, it's one
extra step, but it's not too cumbersome and it keeps you from having to go
to the note screen when you need to add a description.

Go to "Job Settings" > "Options" > and check "Prompt for Point Notes."

Notes can be conveniently and selectively added to a point by selecting the
point from any map screen. If there is only one point selected (instead of
a list of multiple points) a screen comes up allowing you to edit the
point -select "edit point" -the next screen has an option to "Edit
Notes" -select that option and you'll get a note screen for that point.

If your initial pick brings up several points, then highlight the desired
point and press "OK" and the selected point will be isolated on the screen
and can be selected individually. It would be nice to add job notes without
going out to the main menu.

I would also like to have more flexibility to set time stamps. The SDR33
had the ability to add time stamps and notes on demand.

There is a Hot Key for notes also, ALT+W should bring up note screen while
in any survey routine and when you close it you are right back where you
left off.

If you are using an allegro hold down alt then press w, the note screen pops
up in the
topo screen.
