Infrared data transfer

Postby jdeitrick » Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:01 pm

Anyone out there been successful transfering data using an infrared port?
We have AllegroCX (Juniper Systems) data collectors, which have an
infrared port. The application is to use a cell phone to transfer ASCII
files from the phone to the data collector.

This machine is SUPPOSED to have Bluetooth capability as well, so a
similar application using a cell phone equipped with Bluetooth would be
just as useful.

Any ideas anyone has is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

I know that my crews often transfer files between our Allegros with
IR, but we haven't tried to other devices, like cell phones. Is the
cell phone designed to handle files? All my revious ones just dealt
with contacts during the tranfer of info.

Now that I have a new PDA/phone (Cingular 8125) I might try a BT
transfer to the Allegro.

Rich -

I have a Sony Ericsson Cingular phone with both IR and Bluetooth. There
is a connectivity package that can be downloaded, which I have done, but
so far no luck.
