I'm running SUrve CE 2.55 on a Surveyor+ and I keep getting this error message every time I start a new job. It"s especially a problem when I manually enter the backsight bearing as it will appear when each letter or number is entered. The error message reads as follows "Error, Can't open new file \ProgramFIles\SurvCE\Data\1080-1\10080-1.crd". 1080-1\10080-1.crd is a project file and coord file that has been long ago deleted from the data collector. Any suggestions on a fix?

Look in Job settings > New Job > Use Last Control File, and un-check it.
Also, in Job settings > Options, un-check "Use Control File" at the top.
If that's not the problem, I don't know.
