SurCe problem with Rod Ht

I am having a problem with the Target Rod Height. On occasions when I Set & Read a backsight The height difference is showing an error but if I then do a shot to the same backsight, it I get the correct height. It seems to me there is Rod height stored in more than one place. I haven't quite pin pointed the exact sequence but I am interested if others have encountered a problem.

How much of an error? Maybe 0.20'? I have seen such an error in the past, but don't do a lot of total station work anymore, mostly rtk.
My theory was that the software wasn't accounting for automatic level compensation on the backsite only, but never found out what it was.
It didn't appear to affect the integrity of my traverse, so I ignored it.

The error is that it is using the wrong target height so if I had zero height it may have used height of 1.6(m) And it does not appear to affect the traverse heights while you keep a clear head. The error appears when setting the backsight, the wrong height difference appears.

This has only just started to happen to me. Although I think it happened for a short while previously. I suspect it occurred when I changed backsights by just changing the point backsight number and not fully re-shooting the backsight. I have tried system reset on my Surveyor+ without success, but I think I will have to re-install SurvCe as I suspect there is a corrupted file somewhere.

What is a give away is that it is retaining a HR which is not necessarily from the recent station target heights. It reappears despite me checking all entry points and entering new values. And it may recall a height from a previous job.

I am a bit old fashion in that I still use a TS and it probably doesn't affect many other users.

I think there is a check box/ setting to use a different height for backsite than for frontsite. Maybe your problem is there somewhere.
The difference I was talking about was a lot less than yours, maybe a tenth or two (in feet).

There is a value 1.4 stuck somewhere in the system which it is assuming is the HR when checking the backsight. So the error I get in the Set Angle & Read is the difference between the actual HR set and 1.4. I think there is an ini file with it stuck as some default. I will have the opportunity to re-install the prog today.
