unwanted dim-style overrides

I will be working in a drawing where I have already set up a dimension
style with the appropriate scale, but when I set the Anotate defaults,
they seem to override my previously set dimension, giving me an
override. I bump into this problem everyday and it is quite frustrating.
I am using AutoCad 2000 with SurvCad 2000. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
