A CRD from a Grid File

Postby amsurvey » Wed Jun 02, 2010 1:03 pm

I have Carlson Software 2009 (Survey & Civil) running on CADD Map 3d 2005.
I have a grid file and I wish to create pointnumbers and elevations (a CRD file) at intersections of the grid file and a polyline. Does anyone know what is the best way to achieve this?
I thought about using "update crd from screen" in the CFU but if it works (which I have not tried yet), the truth is that it won't give me exactly what I want because it will provide points for every grid corner, instead of the intersections of my polyline, which is what I want.

Thanks,
Tony

You can use Add points to Polyline at the intersecting points and then create points from entities. If there are a lot of points you may have to dig somewhere else for a solution.

1-Create profile along the polyline
2-Profile to 3D Polyline
3-Create Points from Entities(Check on Polylines on Entities To Points dialog)

On this site, go to the pulldown under Support that says Carlson Software Knowledge Base, then pick Carlson Survey and see if topic #138 fits your needs.
There's a ton of tips hidden on this site. you just have to do the digging. 8)
