.gis files

Postby MWFauer5 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 3:58 pm

So I am just learning the GIS aspects of Carlson Survey. In Arc Map I have exported a few shapefiles using the export to cad in the arc tool box. When I open the drawing that it creates I can see the linework but it says "entity has no ESRI map specs for cad (MSC) data" when I click on a line or polygon. Do I need to define each shapefile? Do I have to create a .gis file somehow? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you should be able to import shape files directly into Carlson
w/o using the ArcMAP export to cad command

when you import shapefiles you can pull in the GIS attributes
set up your GIS SETTINGS first
