Disappearing coordinate file

Postby Erich Schmitt » Wed Feb 09, 2011 6:23 pm

I know Carlson won't support older versions of Survey, we are running 2008, on Windows 7 so thought I would throw this out here. We have had 4 instances since going to Win 7, a couple of months, where the coordinate file simply disappears. All other files, rw5, dwg, ini, txt etc are still in the proper job folder but the .crd file is gone. I try and set the current .crd file to the former name and Carlson won't allow as it is in use or . I have worked around by appending the original name with a -2 and updating the coordinate file by drawing but this is a pain. Anyone run into this? The following is the message:

Command: setcrd
Can't open new file S:\Work\29050 jones\29050.crd
Error 2: Could not open file: S:\Work\29050 jones\29050.crd
It might be read-only or in use by another application or be invalid.
Unable to open file> S:\Work\29050 jones\29050.crdADS request error :error#0

Have you tried using an mdb file format as opposed to the crd file format?

We have quite a few people we do work for that need the information we transmit to them in a .crd format. I don't think that this would be a good alternative. The question remains that we have worked with the .crd format since the old xml days and have never had this problem before. Thanks however for your suggestion.
