annotation...

Postby Jon Baker » Tue Oct 02, 2001 6:31 pm

oh my god, i just saw the most primitive thing i have ever seen... i
used
the auto annotate on an arc, with the settings Radius arc length_ and
every
single digit was a separate piece of dtext... not to easy to scale the
text
properly...

why does surv cad not use multi line text
the lisp command to get it with out a dialog box is simply -mtext there
is
also line break entities to use for second lines.

could i ask, beg and plead that the programmers look into the benefits
of
mtext over dtext.. it helps so much even with stacked arc labels.. and
the
fact that the leaders are not associated to the text is a whole other
story
that would be fixed if Carlson used mtext..

in my opinion.

i am not bashing survcad, there are alot of cool and nice things about
it.
and am no programmer so i know that their task is not an easy one.. i am
just trying to point out a possible easier way.

Because MTEXT won't wrap around an arc! And thats what has to happen
here. I won't deny that the annotation could benefit from being bound
into an anonymous group, but it would not benefit from being MTEXT in
this case. In terms of native geometry DTEXT technically saves a few
bytes per character.

We are looking at revamping in the areas of MTEXT and AutoCAD's leaders
for a future version.
