Problems with Auto Annotate

Postby Robert G. Collier » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:07 pm

I seem to be having a problem with Auto Annotate. We are using Carlson 2010 riding on AutoCad 2009

The problem seems to be switching between model and paper space.

When in paper and inside the model view port, I select a line to annotate and the text style comes in as “standard”.
This happens even though all my settings point to the simplex text style.

When I leave paper space and go right into model the command works fine. Has anyone else found the same kind of problem and if so any solution?

Annotation strictly in model space is not an option as this company uses freeze layer in view port regularly and we work from paper space within the model view port.

The problem when working only in model space is we have many layers turned on and the drawing can sometimes get quite busy.

So when we set up the freeze layer in a view port and lock it, it is as nice as working in model. We also use twist screen quite a lot and working within the view port allows the text to be in the right direction albeit wrong style.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I can not repeat this on my system with the same setup running on WindowsXP. What is the operating system you are running on? Are you running the software in 32 or 64 bit?

Also, please go to Help>About Carlson and be sure you are running the latest (Build 100318). If you are and this is happening, please let me know. If you are not running this build, please follow the link below to update your software. Once updated, please try the command again and let us know if you are still having the issue. Thank you.

Temporary Solution

Postby Robert G. Collier » Thu Apr 29, 2010 12:13 pm

I have found away around the problem.

Within the AutoCad menus under the “FORMAT” pull down menu, “Text Styles”.

If I change the font name within the styles, selecting Standard style and changing the font to simplex, the appearance of the text is what I want when I annotate from paper space in a model view port.

However, even if the appearance is correct the properties text style used by Carlson is still “Standard”. All my text style boxes point to “Simplex”.

Testing this in Model space I annotate the same line and sure enough the properties on the text style is “Simplex”.

This is one I truly DO NOT understand.

Thanks for the help
