Scaling Model Space in Viewport

Postby leftclick » Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:57 am

Trying to use established company borders in paper space. Using Carlson Stand Alone 2013 with intellicad.

Got the borders into a base drawing, but I'm used to using the Viewport toolbar in Autocad to set the scale of my model space linework (make it 1:40, 1:100, etc.). Can anyone tell me where to find this toolbar or a similar function in Intellicad?

Haven't got to the Modelspace/Paperspace video yet if this is a little more involved than just a toolbar.

Thanks

2 weeks in and a little lost in all the options yet, but, man anything I can think of I'd want to do, there's a tool for it. A little training, and this could make a surveyor productive again!!

Your correct, there are lots clever options to explore.
The way I set the scale is by snapping to the viewport boundary and then selecting properties. If there is another quicker I would be interested as well. It is one of the most common operations I use.

I usually just create one viewport, go into model space in the viewport, and just type in the scale. For instance if it's 50 scale: "ZOOM" (or Z), then "1/50XP". I then pan around to get the view I want. If the viewport is not placed or sized correctly, I select it from paper space, and stretch or move it by the grips. I always place the viewport on a layer "VPORT" so I can turn it off and don't have the border plot.

Model Space/ Paper Space is not as complicated as many think. At least not after you figure it all out. There's a real good video on this site by That CAD Girl, plus AGT has an awesome training video on it.
I had to come up with a training paper on this at my company that would be idiot proof, something us Cad Monkeys could figure out, plus it had to make sense to surveyor types. Talk about a challenge!! PM me if you'd like to see if this can work for you too. I'll send you the .doc file.
