Importing NFHL

Postby jgraves » Tue Mar 10, 2015 8:53 pm

I cannot figure out how to import NFHL linework from the FEMA site.
I have set my drawing settings to the correct "Projection" and "Zone". I have also downloaded the NFHL folder from the FEMA site and now, I don't know what to do.

Get a free copy of Google Earth Pro. (If it asks for an authorization number, enter GEPFREE).
Now go to thatcadgirl.com and copy the Flood Zone KMZ file to your computer.
Double clicking that file will load the data to Google Earth Pro.
You then can zoom into the desired data and get all the info you want. Save the image to a file on your computer. The SAVE command will create a JPG file that you can insert into your drawing. (It's NOT geo-referenced, but you can scale it up and move it into your drawing.)
You then can trace the flood zone lines, if any, on your drawing.
