Plotting issues

Postby monksjm » Wed Feb 25, 2009 7:04 pm

This is a general question, not necessarily having to do with Carlson, but with AutoCAD. We recently purchase an HP T1100 44" plotter. We have a Xerox 6204. We upgraded the HP from a 1055. We have been having a number of issues trying to get the sheets to print as they did or at all. Does anyone have any recommendation as to who to speak with for tech support on setting margins, sheets, postscripts, plot files etc.? We've dealt a bit with our software rep, which helped but many problems remain. Our IT guy is not really succeeding either. HP wasn't much help, being that our software rep was giving the HP help a lesson in HP Drivers. We're trying to contact Xerox, but are not sure what that will bring. Anyone a guru in this subject out there?

Thanks

Shaun,

I had a similar issues with switching between printers in different departments throughout our office. The best solution I have come to is to print everything to Adobe Pro and make all of our drawings into PDF's... Then, regardless of which printer you send it to the margins, paper sizes, plot styles, etc are always correct. It also has the added benefit of archiving every revision to date... It saves me some time when sending drawings to clients and even though its an extra step, it only takes a minute and has saved me a lot of headaches.

HP sponsors a very active user forum, and one can get a lot of help with Designjet issues there. Check it out at:

http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/for ... goryId=414

Try the following also:

http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/for ... goryId=222

Also one of the most helpful people who posts to the first forum, Carl Hennig, has his own designjet website; and he generously welcomes questions. Find him at:

http://designjet.hennig.ca

Hope you find your solutions.
