I don't think so.
You can open another drawing, use the clipboard to copy entities, and paste to original coordinates in your current drawing. I use that a lot.

being able to pull from the engineers drawings is an everyday thing- it has to be perfect so please as much input and instruction as everyone can give me would be great-

i did a cascade so i could see both drawings- i selected the items to copy then it asked for a displacement point- i chose this and when i went the other drawing to paste it nothing happens.

If you are using Carlson with AutoCAD you can use the Express Tool command NCOPY to do this.

If you don't have the Express Tools loaded you will need to install them from your AutoCAD DVD.

Renee, you have your first drawing open; now open the second drawing that you wish to copy from; use the clipboard "copy";to get back to the original drawing just close the one you are copying from. That should put you back to the first drawing. Then do the clipboard "paste to original coordinates".
You can do this in your Carlson Survey pac. This may be a C&G problem?

hey Dent:

i have managed to use cascade option to see both files: i have tried the NCOPY Stillwell suggested but that is not working for me; i have managed on several occasions to paste the data in the new file but have no idea if it is in the correct place.

going to try some more tomorrow
where do i find that option "paste to original coordinates"

thanks

Under the "EDIT" pulldown. Go to "CLIPBOARD" There you will find the "copy' command and then the "Paste to original coordinates" at the very bottom of the list.
Again do this in your Carlson Survey setup. Not sure if the Edit tab changes when you select the C&G options.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
that worked perfectly- and i think we will be able to work with that command as it has an option for copy to original coordinates.

the KIP is our very large printer: it hold several different sizes of paper and mylar- we print our G- drawing (36x24) to it and it has a large scanner attached so we can scan drawings to .pdf or make copies of drawings

it is a pain in the .....

OK. I really thought it was a setup for something like a Henway.
