Plot Orientation

Postby True North » Wed Mar 09, 2005 6:20 am

With intelicrap, excuse me, I mean intelicrash, hell, you know what I mean-

I could send a plot to 3 different plotters simultaneously.

I can't do that with 6.0 as no matter how hard I try once I have used one
plotter the plots sent to subsequent plotters will be off center (badly
enough that part of the drawing will be clipped off).

If I want to change plotters and have plots plot as they appear in the plot
preview I have to shut everything down, re-open the drawing and use the page
set-up routine.

Is anyone out there using multiple plotters successfully. This is especially
important as only one of the plotters I have (a 430) will load the batch of
Mylar that I have.

I'm using windows 98.

Here's what I do:

In the Plot dialog box I click on the plot device tab and choose the
plotter. On the Plot Settings tab I choose the paper size. Under plot area I
choose Window and click on the Window tab. I draw a box around the print
area in the drawing. Under plot offset I choose to Center the Plot. I think
you should only have to do the last two steps once. Later when you want to
plot to a different printer, choose the printer and the paper size, then in
full preview, the plot area previously selected should be centered on the
paper. I do the plot in paper space at a scale of 1:1 with the drawing
itself in a viewport on the page set to the scale I desire it to be
displayed at, say 1:20 for example. I switch between my 450c and an HP 1200
Deskjet with no problems.

Hope that helps,

Steve O'Brien

PS: I don't know about sending to 2 plotters simultaneously though. If it's
possible I wouldn't know how to set it up.
