TOPO

Postby William Dement » Mon Dec 13, 2004 5:06 pm

I created a new surface for a topo map that I am working on. It opened ok
but I realized that I had some points included that I shouldn't have, so I
tried to create another surface with the correct points included. I keep
getting a message "error creating surface". What am I doing wrong?

You may have included two points that have almost the same horizontal
position but a slightly different elevation.

Can you give more detail on the situation? I'm using an older version of
C&G, and I know that if you have points in the .tin file that are incorrect,
you have to first remove them from the .tin, then create new points in the
..crd file and then add those corrected points to the .tin. I found that
things would get screwed up if I just tried to correct the points in the
..crd file...somehow it doesn't transfer to the .tin file. Not sure if this
is what you're doing, but I hope this helps.

In the original surface file, you can remove points by using Edit Points
under the Topo dropdown menu. Also, I think you may need to save your new
surface under a different name. I'm thinking the error message occurs
because the tin file is open and can't be overwritten.
