How do you import...

Postby rbrewer » Fri Mar 26, 2010 6:32 pm

points that are in the station/offset/elevation format?

I tried searching the help file, this forum and I've googled it but I haven't found an answer.

Centerline>Offset Point Entry
This command creates points along a centerline at specified stations and left and right offsets. The centerline can be defined by a polyline, centerline (.CL) file or two points.
Read File option will read the stations and offsets from a text file.

Ok. That didn't work.

I'm trying to import a .csv file, from one of our surveyors, that's in the station/offset/elevation format. All I get is a jumbled up group of points off to the side of the CL.

I've tried changing the settings in the offset point entry dialog box but that's been no help.

The format of .csv file must be:
point number, station, offset,elevation
Hope this helps.

That works. But now it's Intellicad/Carlson freezes when it tries to import the points.

This software isn't impressing me at all.

I had to take the check out of Store Points to even get it to run through the Offset Point Entry dialog.

After that, I gave it a point range to "draw" and it ran through those but only showed less than half of the points I imported.

I guess I'll have to call Carlson support... again. Thanks for your help.

Apparently it's Intellicad that's causing the problem. I've installed Carlson with our old AutoCAD and it's working great... so far. *knocks on wood*

If this is still an issue, please send a report into support@carlsonsw.com and attach the .csv file so we can take a look at it.

Thank You

I've figured it out. You have to have point numbers in the file. Even if it's just a simple station/offset/elevation/description file.
