Sections To 3D Polylines...offset...problem inside curves

Sections>Sections to 3D Polylines...eventually choosing "offset"...
Outside the curves, the resulting polylines are fine, but inside the curves the resulting polylines frequently meander horizontally as they move from one section to the next. Any ideas? Is it something I'm doing wrong?
