Importing Point Groups

Postby bob8 » Fri Sep 24, 2010 9:10 pm

I am just starting out in Carlson 2010 on top of LDT 2009 and I am trying to figure out a way to bring point groups from a LDT MDB file into the point group manager for Carlson.

I have tried to use LandXML by exporting my points and taking the point groups with it but when i go to import the landXML it doesnt appear to be bringing in the point groups.

Can someone tell me the best way (if any) to get points created in an MDB converted over to a .CRD with the point groups ?

Points>Convert Point Format>Convert LDD MDB to CRD

or

Points>Convert Point Format>Convert LDT/C3D to Carlson Points

They're pretty straight forward commands but if you should have any problems just search the help files and you'll be good to go.

Or better yet, re-establish your point groups in the field to finish set up so those groups will be built as you import your coordinate file. It's a one time thing just like in LDD. In essence, field to finish replaces descriptor keys, figure perfix libraries and establishes point groups all at one time.
