Creating surface from Lidar data file.

Postby jonearnest » Tue Mar 04, 2014 7:57 pm

I'm a new user creating a surface tin and contours from a Lidar data file. The data is so dense, 1 meter interval), a very large tin file is created and the contours are very jagged and erratic. Is there a way to weed out the data file?

After creating the TIN using all the points, go to Triangulation Utilities - load your TIN then hit "Next". Click "Simplify" and choose an appropriate flattening tolerance.

I've used the "Simplify Surface" option in "Triangulate and Contour" with the "Elevation Method", but not sure on it's use of the tolerance (I think it's a factor thing). Read the Help section on it and see if you can make decent sense of it.
