Adding exclusion area after surface creation

Hello:

I am new here so please bear with me.

I did check to see if this topic was discussed elsewhere but did not find anything in the forums.

Is it possible to add an exclusion area to a surface after the surface has already been created? If so, how is it done?

It's been 10 years since I have used Carlson so I still have a lot to brush up on. Been using Civil3D for the last 10 years and switching back to Carlson has been a little rough.
