C&G Acquisition

Postby Rob Cross » Tue Jan 01, 2002 3:09 am

With the recent acquisition of C&G, I was curious about some feature
enhancements.

C&G has a level adjustment program that will automatically change the
elevation of a point based on the level run data. That would be a bonus as
well as adding a rigorous least squares adjustment to adjust the level data.
The distance portion of the adjustment could be handled easily with known
horizontal coordinates.

Also, are there any plans to use the IntelliCAD platform like C&G for
Windows does? Bricsnet offers a very good version of IntelliCAD 2000 and
I'm sure with the quality of Carlson's programming, you could work out any
bugs in the releases available on intellicad.org. I think that would be a
major coup within the survey software market, both for yourself and for your
customers.

Thank you for your time.

Holy Mackerel! I hope IntelliCAD has gotten a lot better since we tried it
when C&G first went to their windows platform. That was the main reason we
got away from C&G. We then tried Eagle Point with their stand alone product
which used IntelliCAD also and had nothing but problems (not to mention
plenty with Eagle Point itself, even with AutoCAD). From our experience, it
was a financially better situation to purchase AutoCAD rather than wade
through problems with IntelliCAD trying to save money up front.
