Topcon 9003A with FC-2500

Hello

I am new to this board and new to SurvCE. I am having a problem connecting my 9003A with my FC 2500 using SurvCE 2.65. When I go to shoot my backsight I get an "error reading data" message on SurvCE. I am in Topcon Direct mode with a cable connection. I can set the horizontal angle ok but when it goes to shoot the distance etc, I get the error.

Any thoughts would be most appreceited.

Correction. The SurvCE version is 2.56.
